In this day you can participate in our morning game-viewing excursion. After breakfast you travel to Kenya’s northern frontier. Wild and rugged, Samburu is fiercely beautiful with its arid savannahs watered by the lovely Uaso Nyiro River. It is also one of Kenya’s most protected areas and home to species only found north of the equator, from the reticulated giraffe to Grevy’s zebras and Beisa oryxes. We also enjoy Larsens Tented Camp or Samburu Intrepids, our luxurious hostelry set beneath a canopy of acacia trees along the banks of the river. Dawn breaks in golden bands as we start our day in the bush by scanning the river from our tent’s veranda with a cup of steaming coffee in hand. Before the dew is off the grass, we’re off in pursuit of the elephants, lions, leopards, and cheetahs that thrive in the reserve’s grasslands and acacia woodlands. Depart Samburu after breakfast .Our destination is Lake Nakuru National Park. We stop for lunch at an upscale restaurant on way and reach the Park in time for an afternoon game drive, on which we can expect to see buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, antelope and the lions that prey on them as well as vast flocks of flamingos clustered near the lake shore. Lake Nakuru is famous for having the highest concentration of flamingos in the world and is home to over three hundred bird species. It is a sanctuary for both the Black and White Rhinos. Also found in plenty are zebras, waterbucks, buffaloes and warthogs. Leopards are sometimes seen sleeping on the horizontal branches of the ‘Fever trees’. After breakfast, depart for Masai Mara Game Reserve. Travel through the Masai country occasionally coming across Masai herdsmen with their livestock living harmoniously with the wildlife. After lunch at your residence lodge another game run is planned in these vast rolling grasslands. Here we find the Old Africa of the movies, with rolling grasslands dotted by acacia trees and sweeping plains teeming with Wildlife. No matter how much you have thought about Africa, this is more than you expected, and the ideal backdrop for a hot air balloon expedition. During our stay we also visit a village of the Masai people to witness the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. The next two days we enjoy morning and afternoon ‘Spice’ game drives in this magnificent Park. Masai Mara is famous for the Annual Wildebeest Migration that takes place between the months of July and October. During this time over a million wildebeests accompanied by thousands of other herbivores, migrate from Serengeti National Park to the Mara in search for greener pastures. Hundreds of lions and hyenas follow them picking on the old and weaker ones. The legendary black mane lion is only found in Masai Mara. The cheetah hunts best in these open grasslands. Maasai Mara is famous for the Annual Wildebeest Migration that takes place between the months of July and October. During this time over a million wildebeests accompanied by thousands of other herbivores, migrate from Serengeti National Park to the Mara in search for greener pastures.

An early morning ‘Spice’ game drive is planned before returning to your camp or lodge for a proper sit down English breakfast. With breakfast done, we overland to Nairobi and check-in to our hotel for day room use. The rest of the day is at leisure for last minute shopping and sight seeing.
