Tranquilly glide through the sparkling waters of Lake Naivasha, the highest lake in the Rift Valley, on a boating safari that promises to unveil a plethora of the region’s spectacular bird life. Lake Naivasha sprawls on the floor of the Rift Valley and consists of a shallow freshwater lake surrounded by lush acacia woodland and open grassland. There is an abundance of dense vegetation framing the edge of the lake, making for a glorious habitat for the prolific bird life. Papyrus lines the lake’s shore and shields the inlets of the Gilgil and Malewa Rivers.
Boasting a diverse waterbird community, the lake is home to numerous species of duck and Palearctic waders. Cast your eye to the clear skies and marvel at the colourful canvas, peer through tangled branches and find some of the high numbers of magnificent African fish eagles that nest in the surrounding acacia woodland.
Gaze at the gangly cormorants sunning their wings on the shore and search for pink backed gregarious pelicans, predatory herons, and vibrant kingfishers. Marvel at the millions of greater and lesser flamingos posing in the shallows in varying shades of pink.
